Critiques from Irish Wolfhound Specialties
2016 Northstar Irish Wolfhound Club - Judge Sam Houston McDonald (Eagle Irish Wolfhounds)
6 - 9 Puppy Bitch
1st Place - A puppy of correct size and substance for her age; good length of head with rose ears; rangy and balanced front and rear; a little sharp in croup; strong consideration for winners and reserve but did not want to gait around ring.
Wish to mention quality of 1st place 6 - 9 puppy bitch as she was considered in both winners and reserve.
2016 Rocky Mountain Irish Wolfhound Association - Judge Jan Pain (Ravensbeech Irish Wolfhounds)
6 - 9 Puppy Bitch
2nd Place - Lovely puppy out of a lighter mold, sweet head and expression, well made and angulated all through, not quite as confident as 1 but a promising prospect.
Sweepstakes 6 - 9 Puppy Bitch - Judge Carole Goodson (Moralach Irish Wolfhounds)
1st Place - 8 months old, very feminine houndy bitch with lovely movement good length of upper arm and angulation in the rear. Good depth to front & chest with elbows tucked under.
2017 Irish Wolfhound Nationals New York - Judge Per Lundstrom (Grerish Irish Wolfhounds)
12 - 18 Month Bitches (23 competing in class)
1st Place - Excellent type and size. Long head with excellent pigmentation. A bit light eyes. Strong jaws. Lovely neck well set into shoulders, elbows well under. Very good top and underline. Strong long broad croup. Well angulated rear with nice width. Well-developed brisket and forechest, a bit long in loin. In the beginning a bit insecure, but settled down. Moved and carried herself very well from all sides. Excellent coat structure.
2017 Northstar Irish Wolfhound Club - Judge Gretchen Bernardi (Berwyck Irish Wolfhounds)
Bred By Exhibitor Bitch
4th Place - A longer, more feminine bitch, she has a beautiful head and good type, typical of this kennel and especially of the dogs produced by her sire.
2017 Rocky Mountain Irish Wolfhound Association - Judge Jamie Souza Bartlett (Limerick Irish Wolfhounds)
Bred By Exhibitor Bitch
4th Place - will locate critique
2018 Irish Wolfhound Nationals - Judge Pernille Monberg (Wolfhouse Irish Wolfhounds)
Bred By Exhibitor Bitch
4th Place - A large -framed bitch, excellent sighthound proportions, feminine head, kind eye, generous ears, but well-placed and folded, excellent length of neck, excellent forechest, a wee bit upright in the scapula, correct upper arm, good bone, tight feet, good depth of chest, correct spring of rib, strong topline, correct underline, correct length of croup, excellent width of thigh, excellent rear angulation, she is shown in a very firm condition, excellent mover.
2018 Northstar Irish Wolfhound Club - Judge Major Stephan LeVan
Bred By Exhibitor Bitch
2nd Place - This bitch fought hard for #1. She moves exceptionally well but did not have the substance of the class winner. I wish her ribs went further back on her body - too much loin between the end of the rib cage and her thigh. (See Reserves Winners Bitch)
Reserve Winners Bitch
A different style to this attractive bitch, more depth and less breadth to her body than #1 in her class - even different expression - perhaps she'd rather be running in an open field than standing in a show ring. She could not be denied a high placement thanks to her impeccable movement - long flowing strides with no extraneous action. (See Bred By Exhibitor Bitch #2 and Best Gait)
Best Gait
Her long flowing strides were efficient and powerful. The core of her body was stable as it moved around the ring with no bobbing up and down wasting energy and time. Balanced structure, flexibility and good musculature are united with perfect timing. Beautiful to watch. (See Reserves Winners Bitch)
